Cursor Bugbot Effort Levels (new May 13)
The May 13 release added three intensity tiers:
- Default — current balance of speed and depth.
- High — deeper analysis, more cross-file context, more thorough. Slower and more expensive.
- Custom — admins or users tune specific knobs (depth, models, file patterns, severity threshold).
Plus an admin-set team default that individuals can override per repo or PR.
The other Bugbot edges: inline review in the Cursor editor (not just on PRs), and tight integration with Cursor’s chat for “explain this finding” loops.
Greptile
Vector-indexed codebase is the differentiator. Greptile builds a semantic index of your entire repo (and related repos), so every PR review has access to architectural context — not just the diff and nearby files.
That produces findings other reviewers miss: “this duplicates logic in another module,” “this violates the convention from the parent service,” “this will conflict with the unrelated change in another repo.”
