Best AI QA Testing Agents 2026: Momentic, QA Wolf, mabl
The short answer
Choose by who owns the tests afterwards. AI QA tools split into three kinds: exploratory agents that hunt for bugs from a prompt, platforms that generate and maintain a regression suite for you, and agent add-ons for the test framework you already run. As of November 5, 2026:
- Momentic Mo — best for exploratory QA from a prompt, web plus iOS and Android. Usage-based, free start.
- QA Wolf — best when you want a maintained regression suite as open-source Playwright/Appium code, priced per verified run.
- mabl — best for enterprise QA teams that want low-code tests with auto-healing.
- Playwright Test Agents — best free option for developers already using Playwright and a coding agent.

Momentic Mo: bug bashing from a prompt
Mo is Momentic’s “AI QA engineer”. You give it a staging URL (or tunnel a local app) or an uploaded mobile build, describe what should work, list test accounts and actions to avoid (“do not place orders”), and it plans test cases and runs them in parallel. A separate agent tries to reproduce each functional bug before it is reported, and blocked cases stay visible as unverified rather than silently passing. It also runs from a CLI (npm install -g qa, then qa start "<prompt>"), and the report can be exported for a coding agent to fix.
Momentic bills a monthly dollar balance rather than seats: test steps, hosted browser and device minutes, AI features and Mo all draw from it. The Free plan includes $50 a month, 5 concurrent browsers and 2 Android plus 2 iOS emulators; Scale is $500 a month for $500 of usage, 25 browsers and 5 + 5 mobile sessions, with top-ups from $50 (up to $1,000 a month). Usage never bills past the balance: runs pause at $0.
QA Wolf: a suite you own, priced per result
QA Wolf charges for a verified pass/fail result, not compute. A run is a full cycle for one test on one platform: selecting tests for the PR, parallel execution, up to three attempts to clear flakes, AI investigation and repair of broken tests, and filing real bugs in Linear or Jira. $1 per run on web, $2 on mobile and desktop, for up to 5 minutes per test. Tests are written in open-source Playwright and Appium and can be exported, so there is no lock-in. It also runs your existing Playwright tests. If you would rather not do the work, Jump Start (QA Wolf writes the suite) and Coverage-as-a-Service (80%+ coverage guaranteed, failures investigated within 24 hours) are quoted separately.
mabl: low-code for QA teams
mabl targets teams where QA engineers, not developers, author tests. It covers browser and mobile UI, API, performance and accessibility testing, with generative-AI auto-healing and intelligent assertions. Pricing is quote-based; mabl’s FAQ says plans start with 500 credits a month for cloud test runs, and local and CI runs are unlimited.
Playwright Test Agents: free, in your repo
Playwright ships three agents: planner explores the app and writes a Markdown test plan, generator turns the plan into Playwright test files, and healer runs the suite and repairs failing tests. Add them with npx playwright init-agents --loop=vscode (or claude, codex, opencode), point them at a seed test that sets up your environment, and drive them from your coding agent. The latest Playwright release is v1.64.1 (October 14, 2026). You pay only for model tokens; see current API prices. For browser-control servers your agent can use, see Safari MCP vs Chrome DevTools MCP vs Playwright MCP.
Which one for which team
- Startup shipping daily, no QA team: Momentic Mo before each release, plus Playwright Test Agents for CI.
- Scale-up that needs regression coverage fast: QA Wolf. Per-run pricing is easy to forecast: runs per day × tests × platforms.
- Enterprise QA department with non-developer authors: mabl.
- Engineering team already on Playwright: Test Agents first; buy a platform only when maintenance eats the team.
AI testing for voice agents is a different market; see voice agent regression testing vendors. To test coding agents themselves, see how to evaluate AI coding agents on your own codebase.
