Composio vs Arcade vs Pipedream Connect for Agent Tools
The short answer
Composio if price and free volume matter most, Arcade if your agent acts for many end users and security review is the gate, Pipedream Connect if you need the biggest catalogue of APIs. All three solve the same problem — letting an agent call Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Salesforce and thousands of other APIs with each user’s own OAuth credentials — and all three speak MCP. Prices are list USD as of October 18, 2026.
| Composio | Arcade | Pipedream Connect | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Catalogue | 1,500+ toolkits | Curated catalogue + MCP framework for your own tools | 3,000+ APIs, 10,000+ prebuilt tools and triggers |
| Free tier | Hobby: 100,000 tool calls, 50,000 triggers, 3 members/month | 2,000 tool calls + 2,000 auth events/month | Everything free in development; production needs a paid plan |
| Paid entry | Pro $29/month (includes $29 usage credit) | Team $25/month + usage | Startup $99/month (monthly billing) |
| Unit price | $0.0003 per tool call (own OAuth app); triggers $0.003 per event | $0.01 per tool call, $0.10 per auth event | 100 end users included, then $2/user; 10,000 credits, then $0.012/credit |
| Billing driver | Tool calls | Tool calls + user authorisations | End users + compute credits |
| Enterprise | SSO/SCIM, customer-managed keys, BAA | VPC or air-gapped deployment, RBAC, audit logs, private registry | SSO, SCIM, HIPAA, static egress IPs |
| Best for | Prototypes to mid-scale, cost-sensitive | Multi-user production agents, regulated buyers | Products embedding integrations for their customers |
How the pricing really compares
The three meter different things, so model your own workload:
- One internal agent, 200,000 tool calls a month, your own OAuth apps: Composio ≈ $30 (100,000 free, then 100,000 × $0.0003 = $30, mostly covered by the Pro plan’s $29 credit). Arcade Team ≈ $25 + 200,000 × $0.01 = $2,025. Pipedream depends on compute credits (1 credit per 30 seconds of compute), not raw calls.
- A SaaS product with 2,000 end users who each connect a few apps: Pipedream Startup ≈ $99 + 1,900 × $2 = $3,899 plus credits; Arcade charges $0.10 each time a user authorises; Composio counts calls, not users.
Composio’s managed (shared) OAuth apps cost an extra $0.0002 per call and only 20,000 of the free calls apply to them — bring your own OAuth app before you scale.
Picks by situation
- Solo builder or startup prototyping an agent: Composio — the free tier alone covers most prototypes.
- Agent that books meetings, sends email and updates CRM for thousands of employees, with a security team to satisfy: Arcade — it is built around just-in-time user authorisation and can run inside your VPC.
- You sell software and want “connect your apps” inside your product: Pipedream Connect — the largest catalogue, priced by your users.
- Only two or three internal APIs: skip the platform; write an MCP server and put it behind a gateway. See how AI agents connect with APIs and external tools.
Keep the agent’s credentials out of the model either way — see best secrets managers for AI agents — and pick useful servers from best MCP servers.
