Instinct vs Manus Cue vs Meta Muse: Personal Agents (2026)
The short answer
Three personal agents, three bets. Meta Muse (September 8, 2026) is the one you can use now — free for most people, $20 or $100 a month for more, US-only, and #1 on the US App Store within ten days. Manus Cue (September 28) is the most literal “agent as a person”: each agent gets an email, a phone number, a wallet with a budget and its own computer, free in early access with an invite code. Instinct (Series C on September 28, $1 billion at $10 billion) is phone-first — you text or call it, it calls businesses and other people’s agents back — and is invite-only with no price. None has solved prompt injection; pick on distribution and modality, and scope what you connect.

Distribution: Muse wins today
Meta launched Muse into WhatsApp and its own app on September 8, 2026, free for most use, and it reached the top of the US App Store ahead of ChatGPT within ten days. That distribution is the reason Google is folding Gemini Gems into skills on November 17, 2026 and the reason OpenAI’s always-on “o” agent leaked onto the $100 Pro upgrade screen before DevDay. Muse’s limits are real — US-only, no phone calls, blocked by Amazon — but if the question is “which one can my parents use this week,” it is Muse.
Manus Cue is a day old and gated by invite code; Instinct is gated by a waitlist and has never published a price. Both are early-access products with venture-scale ambitions.
Modality: the real difference
- Instinct is a phone. The bet is that most of life’s admin still happens by calling a human — the restaurant with no online booking, the dentist’s cancellation list, the cable company. Instinct Concierge does those calls, and its Trusted Person Network lets your agent negotiate plans with your friends’ agents. You never open an app if you don’t want to; you text or call.
- Cue is a colleague. Manus gives each agent a full identity — email, number, wallet, machine — and lets you staff a group chat with several of them. The QR-code-at-a-restaurant demo (agent orders or holds your place) shows the intended granularity. It is built on the Manus 2.0 stack, so the same agent can also cut a video or build a multiplayer game in Manus Studio.
- Muse is a chat. Errands, bookings, shopping and negotiating from a conversation, with the Muse Charm pendant (December) as the voice-and-camera front end. Meta’s advantage is the graph — WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger — not the agent architecture.
Money and autonomy
All three let the agent spend. Instinct’s terms make you the principal: purchases through an “Action” are yours, and actions “may not always be reversible.” Cue caps each agent’s wallet at a budget you set — the cleanest control of the three. Security: nobody has solved injection
The Salt Labs disclosure against Manus (September 24, 2026) is the template: an email with an obfuscated instruction ran code in the victim’s environment and reached Gmail, Dropbox and GitHub tokens, with the warning arriving after the fact. Instinct’s privacy policy says the quiet part out loud — third parties “may involve misleading instructions intended to influence autonomous agents.” Meta runs Muse in a per-user VM, which limits lateral movement but not what a hijacked agent does with the permissions it has. Treat all three as untrusted software with your credentials, and see prompt-injection defense.
Decision rule
- Want something working this week, in the US, free: Meta Muse.
- Want an agent that phones people and other agents: Instinct — join the waitlist; no price yet.
- Want several agents with their own inboxes, numbers and budgets, plus creative tooling: Manus Cue, invite code MEETCUE while codes last.
- Outside the US: Cue (web/desktop/Android) is the only one of the three not region-locked at launch; Muse is US-only and Instinct’s rollout is unspecified.
- Handling money or sensitive accounts: none without scoped credentials and a spend cap.
