Avoca AI Evaluation: ROI, Cost and Alternatives (2026)

Published:

The short answer

Avoca AI is the category leader in AI phone and workflow agents for home-services businesses (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing), and it is priced and sold like enterprise software. As of October 11, 2026:

  • Pick Avoca if you run a multi-location or PE-backed operation with real call volume, already on ServiceTitan, and want an always-on agent that books jobs, follows up on estimates and replaces after-hours vendors.
  • Pick Sameday AI if you want a similar home-services AI CSR with published prices (Launch from $449/month with 500 minutes, Scale from $789/month with 1,000 minutes).
  • Pick ServiceTitan’s AI Voice Agent if you want the AI inside the platform you already run, from one vendor.
  • Pick Jobber Receptionist if you are a small shop on Jobber: listed in Jobber’s help centre as $29/month for 30 conversations, included on the Plus plan (confirm on your Jobber invoice).

What Avoca is

Avoca announced in 2026 that it has raised more than $125 million at a $1 billion valuation (Series B led by Meritech and General Catalyst, Series A led by Kleiner Perkins, with Amplify Partners and Y Combinator). The company says it passed eight figures of annual recurring revenue in 2025 and is on track to book $1 billion in jobs for customers this year. It partners with ServiceTitan, Nexstar and Clover; named customers include Turnpoint, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and Goettl.

The product answers inbound calls, texts and chats within seconds, books directly into the customer’s CRM, follows up on unsold estimates, and launches campaigns based on technician capacity. Its own case study, Granite Comfort, consolidated nine contact centres into one and dropped all nine after-hours vendors; the pilot brand grew revenue 20% year over year, which Avoca attributes mainly to captured calls.

How to estimate ROI before the demo

Use your own phone data, not the vendor’s averages:

  1. Lost calls per month = missed + abandoned + after-hours calls that never got a callback.
  2. Bookable share = the percentage of answered calls your best CSR books (often 50–70% for service calls).
  3. Average ticket for those job types.

Recovered revenue ≈ lost calls × bookable share × average ticket. A shop losing 300 calls a month, booking 50% of answered calls at a $450 average ticket, is leaving about $67,500 a month on the table. If an AI agent recovers even a third of that, a $2,000-a-month contract returns more than ten times its cost. If you lose 30 calls a month, the maths favours Jobber Receptionist or Sameday’s entry plan instead.

Add the costs you can remove: after-hours answering services, overflow staffing, and the time CSRs spend on estimate follow-up.

How to run the pilot

  • One brand or location, 30–60 days, with call recordings on.
  • Compare booking rate against your top two human CSRs on the same call types.
  • Audit 50 bookings for correct job type, address, time window and CRM entry.
  • Check escalation: emergencies (gas smell, no heat in winter) must reach a person immediately.
  • Negotiate month-to-month or an exit clause until the pilot numbers hold.

Where Avoca fits in an AI adoption strategy

Front-office voice is the first AI system most contractors buy because it is measurable in booked revenue. Do it before AI scheduling or marketing tools, keep one system of record (your field-service platform), and make the vendor show you per-call outcomes, not just answer rates.
