Conductor Alternatives After the Meta Deal: 6 Picks (2026)
The short answer
If you used Conductor locally, move to Orca; if you paid for Conductor Cloud, look at Paradev; if you only want isolation, Claude Code’s own --worktree flag is enough. Conductor announced on November 4, 2026 that it is joining Meta. Meta confirmed the deal to TechCrunch; the team goes to Meta Superintelligence Labs and promises “something new” early in 2027.

Versions checked on GitHub on November 6, 2026: Orca v1.4.251 (released that day), Paradev desktop v2.0.5 (Nov 5), T3 Code v0.1.7 (Nov 4), Worktrunk v0.81.0 (Oct 20), Claude Squad v1.0.20 (Aug 20).
Conductor’s shutdown dates
- November 4, 2026 — no new sign-ups or downloads; free users cannot upgrade; Pro users keep Pro features free.
- November 13, 2026 — Conductor Cloud goes read-only. You can read and export, not send messages. Active subscribers get a refund.
- November 20, 2026 — Conductor Cloud shuts down and deletion of cloud data begins.
- Early 2027 — local Conductor stops getting new models and critical fixes.
Before November 20: right-click each cloud workspace and choose Transfer to local, or use Settings → Account → Export data (Conductor 0.93.0 release notes).
1. Orca — the closest free replacement
Orca (stablyai/orca, MIT, 117,000+ GitHub stars) does what Conductor did and adds two things Conductor did not: it runs on Windows and Linux as well as macOS, and a coordinator agent can split a large task and start worker agents in their own workspaces, then collect the results. Each task gets an isolated worktree with terminals, a browser and diffs. Agents can run on your laptop, on any SSH host, on a paired Remote Orca Server or in a cloud VM per worktree, and the iOS/Android companion notifies you when a worker finishes. You bring your own Claude, OpenAI or other subscriptions. Our Orca review covers setup.
Pick it if you used Conductor locally and want the same flow for free.
2. Paradev — closest to Conductor Cloud
Paradev, formerly named Superset (its CLI command is still superset), is a desktop app where each task gets its own worktree, branch and terminals, a Changes pane to commit and open PRs, an in-app browser per workspace, and a sidebar showing which agent is working, done or waiting. It does not proxy model calls. The Free plan covers one user with local workspaces. Pro ($20 per user per month, $16 billed yearly) adds remote access, automations, Linear and Slack, and mobile. Team ($60, $54 yearly) adds cloud workspaces with 150 hours per seat a month; Ultra ($200) gives 500 hours. Extra cloud time is $0.06 per GB-hour. Paradev publishes its own Conductor comparison page, so expect migration help.
Pick it if you relied on Conductor Cloud’s hosted workspaces and are happy to pay for them.
3. T3 Code — for steering agents remotely
T3 Code (pingdotgg/t3code, MIT) is a free control surface for the agents installed on your machine: a desktop app, a web app, iOS and Android apps, and a t3 server you can keep running with t3 service install. It drives Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Grok Build, OpenCode, Google Antigravity and fx with your existing logins, writes each thread to its own branch and opens a PR in one click. It is less of a worktree manager than Orca, more of a remote. See our T3 Code review.
Pick it if you want to start and review agent work from your phone.
4. Claude Code’s built-in worktrees — no new app
If you only ran Claude Code inside Conductor, the CLI now does the isolation itself: claude --worktree feature-auth creates .claude/worktrees/feature-auth/ on a new branch worktree-feature-auth, and a second terminal with a different name runs a second isolated session. A .worktreeinclude file copies gitignored files such as .env into each new worktree, and background agents let you watch several sessions from one screen. Step-by-step: how to run parallel AI coding agents with git worktrees.
5. Worktrunk and Claude Squad — terminal options
Worktrunk (max-sixty/worktrunk) makes worktrees one-word commands: wt switch -c -x claude feature-a creates a branch and worktree and starts Claude in it, wt list shows every worktree with CI status, wt merge main and wt remove clean up. It works with any agent (our review). Claude Squad is a tmux-based terminal UI that manages Claude Code, Codex, Gemini and Aider sessions in isolated workspaces; it is AGPL-3.0 and its last release was August 20, 2026, so it moves slower than the desktop apps.
What to avoid
Vibe Kanban looked like a natural replacement, but bloop, the company behind it, has shut down. The project lives on as community-maintained open source; its remote services (kanban issues, comments, projects, organisations) stay up for 30 days after the announcement and then the app becomes local-only. Fine for solo local use; not a safe team platform today.
How to choose
- Were you on Conductor Cloud? Yes: Paradev Team, or Orca with your own SSH host or VPS.
- Do you need Windows or Linux? Orca.
- Is your work mostly from a phone? T3 Code.
- Only Claude Code, only a terminal?
claude --worktreeplus Worktrunk.
The orchestrator is the cheap part; parallel agents burn model usage in parallel. For the agents themselves see best AI coding agents for parallel development and our wider tools for running multiple AI coding agents.
